Banff Academy’s Jamie Milne won the 3rd place prize in the Active Schools Volunteer of the Year Award this year.

Jamie is a PE teacher at Banff Academy and dedicates over 5 hours per week taking various after school clubs for Active Schools. He is an inspiration for all the children who have enjoyed being part of his various activities – well done to Jamie for his support and nomination!

Proposed New Banff Academy Badge

Untitled-1 copy.pnglogo 9At Banff Academy we have a very long and proud history of achieving excellence in education. The school was founded in 1585, making it one of the oldest in Scotland.

It is clear that staff, pupils, parents and the wider community all want Banff Academy to be an excellent school. The previous school badge with the motto of ‘virtus splendet per sese semper’ translates roughly as ‘virtue or excellence shines on itself forever’. Over the last few months I have been approached on numerous occasions by staff, pupils and parents regarding school uniform and the school badge. From the feedback received, it is clear that the existing logo no longer seems to capture the identity and aspirations of Banff Academy. I therefore propose we adopt an updated version of the previous school badge.  The pupils will be consulted on the proposed school badge over the next two weeks.

The Pupil Representative Council (PRC) has also set up a group to review school uniform and the group is preparing draft proposals for consultation. Any revision to the uniform will be in place for August.

Should you wish to make any comment or give feedback on the proposed badge please email:  banff.aca@aberdeenshire.gov.uk with the subject ‘Proposed School Badge’.
